If the truth be told, I’ve been putting writing this post off for months, mainly because I had no idea how to summarise this day, in words and particularly, in images. It felt like a greatest hits of moments throughout, right from my 1pm start, all the way until my 4am finish, and I’m thrilled (and relieved!) I’ve finally gotten myself into gear to share it.
Let’s start from the beginning. Lucy and Jamie’s wedding took place at the quite stunning Villa San Vincenzo in Puglia in Italy, a villa that’s owned by their good friend, Dermot O’Leary, who happened to be the celebrant on the day as well (and, as you’d expect, performed most admirably). The venue was something else, and it really does make my job a lot easier when the perfect backdrop for each key moment of the day is presented to you. In this instance the ceremony was at the end of a beautiful wisteria tunnel in front of a quintessential Italian villa, the reception was around the swimming pool whilst guests cooled off by dipping their toes in the pool, and the wedding breakfast and insane party happened amongst the ubiquitous olive trees. The vibe from the crowd was totally on point as well, and huge props have to go to MC extraordinaire, Juliet, who helped create a fantastic atmosphere during the wedding breakfast with a series of questions to unsuspecting guests about how well they knew Lucy and Jamie - any wrong answers resulted in a shot of limoncello and the howling disbelief of the crowd.
There were fireworks, surprise brass bands, cocktails galore, a DJ set until the very early hours, and a 4am rendition of Bugsy Malone’s ‘You Give a Little Love’. This will live long in the memory.
