Photographing Laura & Xavier’s wedding by Lake Geneva was my second date with destination wedding photography this year. My first was in the gorgeous vineyards of Mendoza back in January for Ashleigh & Tom’s in Argentina.
Upon arriving in Switzerland, I realised that things are done a bit differently there. For starters, you can only officially get married in a registry office, but thankfully Swiss registry offices bear little resemblance to their English counterparts. In fact, they’re supremely stunning, as illustrated by the sumptuous Chateaux de Nyon, that over-looks Lake Geneva. For this part of the day Laura and Xavier only had their immediate family and Bridal party in attendance, before heading home and getting ready for the Church ceremony, where they were to be joined by the rest of the congregation. After that it was off to the Four Seasons in Geneva for some champagne and other such delights.
As has been the case with most my weddings this year, only a Skype call and a few emails helped me get to know Laura and Xavier and their plans for the wedding, but on the day I couldn’t have been made to feel more a part of this group. Such lovely company, and with destination weddings booked for France and Austria already next year, an experience I’m looking forward to having more of in the future.
