If you’re planning your wedding at the stunning Great Fosters and are looking for a creative and unobtrusive Great Fosters wedding photographer then you’ve come to the right place! Great Fosters is a Grade I-listed historic country house near Egham in Surrey, and I’ve loved shooting there in the past.
GREAT FOSTERS WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
It’s not often you get a wedding venue so steeped in history, so I think it’s only right a whole paragraph is dedicated to it! Great Fosters was built in the Tudor period, around 1550, but contrary to popular opinion, could not have been frequented by Henry VIII, since he would have already been dead! However his daughter most certainly had some kind of connection since an original royal crest of Queen Elizabeth I is placed directly under the main porch, dated 1598.
I remember the first time I walked through the building, I really got a sense that I was walking through history as I went from room to room. From the Tapestry Room, where most Bride’s get ready in the morning, right through to the beautifully restored Tithe Barn, with it’s wood panels and open fire, which created an incredibly cosy atmosphere. And if that’s not enough you can wander through the 50 acres of manicured gardens and woodland, and relax in The Orangery!
I love wedding venues that have an enjoyable ‘journey’ through the venue, and my first experience at Great Fosters, during Natalie and Ben’s wedding, certainly had that. The wedding ceremony took place in The Orangery, and my favourite image from it, and actually one of my all-time favourites, can be seen above as the main banner image. I just love that embrace, and says all you need to know about their relationship. After the wedding ceremony, the wedding guests wandered around the beautiful gardens, and Natalie, Ben and I managed to take a 15 minute time-out for portraits. After that, we headed into the Tithe Barn for the wedding breakfast, with Jäger bombs, speeches, and good times top of the agenda.
Have a look through the pictures below, and hopefully they’ll give you some inspiration for your own wedding at Great Fosters in Surrey.
