Seeing as I haven’t left these shores in two years, and how there was a whole month (January 2021) when I stayed within a 1 mile radius of my home - visiting illustrious spots like the local park, Sainsburys and the chip shop - it was an enormous relief to get in the car and go on a proper road trip away, up to the Highlands of Scotland.
Like with pretty much every wedding I shoot, I didn’t really get a chance to know Sarah and Grant before their wedding at Errol Park, Scotland, but after two days of heart warming and hilarious moments, I left feeling like a fully entrenched member of the wedding party. More on that in a bit.
First up though, I must give props to one of the stars of the show, Errol Park, which is a stunning wedding venue. It’s a huge stately home, where horses wander around the large family estate, set against the perfect back-drop of rolling hills and rivers. I should add that it probably helped that the weather was absolutely incredible throughout!
But, and I harp on about this all the time, as impressive as that all was, it’s the people that make a wedding, and Sarah and Grant and their crew were spot on. There was Lucy, who was always there to provide a helping hand and make things happen; Molly, who was a laugh a minute and one of a kind; Tom, the bagpiper extraordinaire and top wedding photographer himself; and the dads, Stuart, who did one of the best father of the bride speeches I’ve ever heard, and Colin, a man whose infectious personality cheered all who spoke to him.
I’ll let the pictures do the talking now, but all in all a top, top day, and one I’ll always remember with great fondness.
Someday I would like to photograph such a Scottish wedding. Kilts are great! Beautiful and dense reportage.
