1. Kew Gardens

There are a couple of options at Kew, but if you’re after that signature glasshouse vibe, the Nash Conservatory is a winner. All clean lines, huge windows, and natural light flooding in from every angle. It’s a bit like stepping into a Georgian greenhouse, only fancier.

And then there’s the Princess of Wales Conservatory - a more tropical, jungle-like space that feels a little wilder, a little more unexpected. Ten climate zones, ferns, orchids, cacti - it’s kind of surreal in the best possible way.

Why it’s great: The mix of structure and nature is so beautifully balanced. You can walk through this sweeping, historic garden one minute, then step into a glasshouse full of exotic plants the next. You get those big, open skies and lush greenery. And honestly? It’s hard to beat for portraits.

Worth knowing: Kew is a working research garden, so timings and logistics can be strict. But if you’ve got a planner or a solid venue coordinator, it all flows nicely.

2. The Orangery, Holland Park

Tucked away in Holland Park, The Orangery is a bit of a hidden gem. It’s not a conservatory in the plant-filled sense - but it’s got that same light, airy atmosphere. Tall arched windows, bright white walls, and a kind of understated elegance that feels effortlessly stylish.

The beauty of this space is in its simplicity. It doesn’t need much dressing. Maybe a few candles, some greenery, a string quartet if you’re feeling fancy. But really, it’s already doing the hard work for you.

Why it’s great: If you’re going for a smaller, more intimate wedding, this space hits the sweet spot. It feels refined without being formal, elegant without being overdone. And with Holland Park just outside, there’s no shortage of lovely spots for a quiet moment or some candid photos away from the crowd.

3. Barbican Conservatory

And now for something completely different.

The Barbican Conservatory is hands down one of the most unique venues in London. Hidden inside the Barbican Centre (which, from the outside, looks like a concrete fortress), this place is basically a rainforest tucked under glass.

There are over 2,000 species of plants, a fish pond, twisting pathways - it’s got this wild, otherworldly feel to it. One minute you’re walking through brutalist walkways, the next you’re surrounded by palms and vines and soft natural light pouring through the canopy.

Why it’s great: It’s seriously cool. If you’re after something a bit different - a little quirky, a little unexpected - this place really stands out. It’s ideal for couples who want to do things their own way. No need to go overboard with styling either - the space is the décor.

Heads up: The Barbican only hosts weddings on Sundays and bank holidays, so dates are limited.
