The West Reservoir Centre is a brilliantly restored filter house in Stoke Newington, London, and I’ve loved shooting there in the past.
WEST RESERVOIR CENTRE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
From the moment you approach the 1930s Art Deco red-brick tower, which is built alongside the West Reservoir, you have a feeling that the old facade will be slightly deceiving. The inside has been brilliantly restored, and it was at Alice and Tom’s wedding at the West Reservoir Centre, that I saw how perfect it was for the kids, who loved running around the open spaces, and also for the adults, who enjoyed being in a secluded part of London that was by the water. Personally speaking, I absolutely loved all that natural light that filled the West Reservoir Centre’s Tower Room, and the sun managed to set in just the right place for the Bride and Groom shots, which we took on the jetty away from everybody else.
Originally built as a filter house on the side of the reservoir, the West Reservoir Centre is now considered one of the finest places to get married in London. As mentioned, I think a big part of that is down to the setting, as it’s amazing to be in the heart of the city, and yet feel so away from it all. But also how many venues offer such high ceilings and a feeling of space inside as well as out?! All that exposed metalwork provide it with the unique character that distinguishes it from many other London wedding venues, and is a big reason for it being one of my favourites.
