A DIY wedding for you on the blog today, as Jemma and James decided to do things their own way for their wedding, and go totally bespoke. I think it’s fair to say that when I’ve spoken to couples in the past, the one’s who have gone down the DIY wedding route have generally found the whole wedding organising a wee bit stressful, which completely makes sense as they’ve had to sort everything out! Everything has to be organised, and whilst doing this can raise the blood pressure somewhat, the end result is something that is completely unique to the couple.
From what I can remember of our pre-wedding Skype chat though, Jemma and James were one of the most chilled out couples I’ve spoken to! So if they were suffering from any organisational stresses, they hid it very well indeed. And having been together since school, they really wanted to create a wedding that was totally relaxed and enjoyable, so first up they had the reception in a field behind James’ parents house, which was only a very short walk away from the church. There was a creche to entertain the kids, and a magician (the very talented Nicolas Clement) later on to entertain the kidults - plus a glitter station that even I couldn’t avoid! And props to the Bridesmaid who wanted the glitter glued into her hair (evidence below) - that takes some commitment!
Such a beautiful set, love your use of light!
