Set in the heart of North London, Stoke Newington Town Hall has a presence that’s hard to ignore. Built in the 1930s, it’s a Grade II listed building full of Art Deco detail - from rich wood panelling and marble finishes to striking symmetry and bold architectural lines.
Inside, the Council Chamber is where most ceremonies take place. It’s an intimate, atmospheric space with warm tones, gallery seating and beautiful natural light pouring in from tall windows. he Assembly Hall, on the other hand, offers something entirely different - a much larger, grander setting for bigger celebrations.
What makes this venue particularly special is how it balances elegance with a relaxed feel. Only one ceremony takes place at a time, which gives the whole day a sense of calm - something that’s surprisingly rare in London.
Step outside and you’re immediately into a neighbourhood full of character. From the iconic frontage of the town hall itself to nearby spots like Clissold Park, there’s no shortage of great locations for portraits - all within a few minutes’ walk.

The Council Chamber especially is a beautiful space to work in. The combination of dark wood, soft window light and those distinctive Art Deco details creates images that feel timeless but never staged. It’s a venue that does a lot of the work for you - you just have to pay attention to what’s happening within it.
My approach is simple: I document the day as it actually happens. No staging, no heavy direction - just a focus on real moments.
Weddings here tend to have a really natural rhythm. Guests gather outside, conversations spill out onto the steps, and there’s often that moment just after the ceremony where everything slows down for a second - before the celebrations properly begin.
There’s also something about town hall weddings that feels honest. Stripped back in the best possible way. It puts the focus on people - on connection, on emotion, on the small moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.
That’s what I’m always looking for. The big moments, yes - but also the quiet ones in between. The way the light hits a room. A glance, a laugh, a fleeting interaction. All the things that, together, tell the full story of the day.
