Tucked away in the heart of central London, Fitzrovia Chapel is the definition of a hidden gem. From the outside, it’s easy to miss - but step through the doors and you’re met with something completely unexpected.
Originally built as the chapel for the Middlesex Hospital in the late 19th century, the space has been beautifully restored and is now a secular venue for weddings and civil ceremonies.
Inside, it’s breathtaking. Ornate mosaics, marble, stained glass and a vaulted, gold-detailed ceiling create a space that feels both grand and deeply intimate at the same time.
What makes it particularly special is that contrast - the quiet, almost reverential atmosphere inside set against the busy, modern city just outside. It’s a place that immediately slows everything down.
The chapel is also perfectly suited to smaller weddings. With space for around 70–80 guests, it naturally lends itself to ceremonies that feel close, personal and focused on what really matters.

It’s not just about how a place looks - it’s about how it feels to be there. And this is one of those venues where the atmosphere does a lot of the work for you.
The moment you step inside, everything changes. The light softens, the sound shifts, and there’s a stillness that’s hard to describe but easy to feel. It creates a space where emotions come to the surface naturally - and that’s what I’m always looking to capture.
Visually, it’s incredibly rich. Every surface has detail, every angle has depth. The way light moves across the mosaics and marble throughout the ceremony creates images that feel layered, timeless and full of texture.
It’s a venue that rewards patience and observation rather than direction.
My approach is simple: I document the day as it actually happens. No staging, no heavy direction - just a focus on real moments.
Weddings at Fitzrovia Chapel tend to have a very particular rhythm. The ceremony is often the centrepiece - quiet, emotional and immersive - followed by a smaller gathering or drinks reception before moving on elsewhere.
Because of that, the focus naturally shifts to people. Expressions, reactions, small interactions - the things that might otherwise go unnoticed in a larger, busier setting.
There’s also something about the space itself that elevates everything. You don’t need to add much. The setting carries its own presence, allowing the story of the day to unfold in a way that feels simple, honest and completely genuine.
That’s always the aim - to capture not just how it looked, but how it felt to be there.
