A Shoreditch Studios wedding for you on the blog today, and I have to admit, I’d been looking forward to shooting this since Emma and Seb booked me in. It’s one of those venues that is revered in the wedding photography community, as we all like to shoot at a cool London warehouse wedding venue during the wedding season, and Shoreditch Studios is most certainly right up there.
There’s a real warehouse vibe to it, which could be down to the fact Shoreditch Studios is housed in renovated railway arches, directly under the East London overground railway line. The unique London venue is comprised of two high ceiling studio spaces: Studio 1 and Studio 2. Studio 1 is the main space, which is used for the ceremony and/or wedding breakfast, and has the floor to ceiling white infinity cove; perfect for displaying personalised wedding messages, or video/picture projections. There’s also a mezzanine (great for staging a live acoustic set during the ceremony/reception) and a spiral staircase, which I’ve heard has been used quite successfully for the speeches. Then there’s Studio 2 aka the party room. Similar in style to Studio 1, but a tad smaller, and perfect for moving into the evening festivities with minimal hassle.
There’s also a genuinely great team of suppliers, and I have to give a shout out to Andi at Halcyon Halcyon, who not only helped create that amazing floral design (along with his other-half Jayne) that you can see hovering above the speech makers, but he’s also a top guy as well! Already looking forward to the next wedding we’ve got together at Shoreditch Studios next year.
Now back to the day, which got my creative juices flowing in so many ways. The courtyard is a bit of a photographers playground, with those colourful back-drops, pockets of light and different seating levels, which brings a nice contrast and energy to the pics. Plus it did no harm that the guests were a trendy bunch as well!!
All in all a top top day, with great people and a very inspiring wedding venue, this was one of my faves of the year, no question.
