2022. WHAT A YEAR.
I’m sure every wedding photographer out there has said those words at some point over the past few months (maybe with some expletives thrown in), as it’s been absolutely NUTS!! Three free weekends between April and November tells its own story, as I juggled the last of the Covid-postponements, with the onset of what was an almighty wedding boom.
I managed to clock a few hundred hours of travel time, as I made my way to all parts of the country, and beyond, as I crossed the border into Scotland, and hopped on a plane to Tuscany for my first destination wedding in four years (the less said about the 4 cancelled destination weddings in 2020, one of which would’ve been in Ibiza [crying emoji], the better…).
One thing I didn’t manage to do due to travelling restrictions, and lack of time, was any street photography trips. For me it’s incredibly important to get away and do something different for a bit, so I’m putting that right this year with a 2 week trip to India with the two guys I went to Ethiopia with back in 2019. If you’re keen to follow the adventure, I’ll be posting regular stories and updates on my personal Instagram account from the 24th January onwards.
Finally, a HUGE thank you to all the wonderful couples I got to meet in 2022, without whom I would surely be out of work and on my second tub of ice cream for the day. Now I’ve unfortunately hamstrung myself by imposing a 100 image limit to the post, and with 42 weddings shot this year, it’s made the selection process even harder! But hopefully this gives you a good idea of the year, and how much fun I’ve had being a part of it.
Masterfully thought out and captured stuff. You manage to effortlessly transfer that street photography style without “forcing” it onto a wedding. A true and rare skill buddy.
Hoping for a hug in 2023 x
