I have never photographed a back garden summer wedding quite like this one. I’ve never been in a back garden quite like this one! To put the sheer size into perspective, this was the first wedding where a map had to be given out to help everyone understand where everything was taking place. It was quite extraordinary, and honestly, one of the best settings for a wedding I’ve had the privilege of photographing. Plus it’s not every wedding boat rides are given in a private lake!
But onto the day itself, and the happy couple, Tas and Josh, who were my kind of couple - very relaxed, good fun, and set the tone for the wonderful atmosphere that was prevalent throughout. I started the day off at Josh’s beautiful family home, where the wedding was taking place, which had a bit of a festival vibe to it - there were tipis, a chill out lounge and pampering tent for everyone to get ready for the day ahead. Then it was a short walk to the local church, before heading back to the house for the reception, where guests were guided on a thoughtfully planned journey throughout the garden, from the initial welcome drinks to the Aperol Spritz cocktail hour later on.
As mentioned before, there was a wonderful energy on the day, everyone seemed to be on top form (including all the fantastic suppliers whom I worked with, listed below), none more so than the happy couple, who even helped me with creating what will surely become one of my most iconic shots - a one-of-a-kind approach to cake cutting…
