Chelsea Town Hall Weddings

If you’re planning your wedding at Chelsea Old Town Hall and are looking for relaxed, creative and unobtrusive London wedding photography, you’ve come to the right place. Set on the King’s Road in the heart of Chelsea, it’s one of London’s most recognisable register office wedding venues - classic, stylish and full of old-school London charm.

With its famous frontage, elegant ceremony rooms and brilliant location, Chelsea Old Town Hall has long been a favourite for couples wanting a London wedding that feels intimate, timeless and easy to build a day around. It doesn’t need to be overcomplicated - the setting, the street life and the atmosphere do a lot of the work for you.

Why Chelsea Old Town Hall?

Chelsea Old Town Hall has that instantly recognisable London register office feel. From the moment guests arrive on the King’s Road, there’s a sense of occasion without it ever feeling too formal. It’s smart, classic and full of character, but still works beautifully for relaxed, personal weddings.

There are several ceremony rooms depending on the size of your wedding. The smaller rooms are perfect for intimate ceremonies, while the Brydon Room allows space for up to 38 guests. For larger celebrations, the Small Hall and Main Hall offer much bigger capacities, with the Main Hall able to host ceremonies of up to 338 guests. That flexibility is one of the reasons Chelsea has remained such a popular choice over the years.

The location is also a huge part of its appeal. Once the ceremony is over, you’re straight out onto one of London’s most iconic streets, with guests gathering outside for confetti, hugs and congratulations. From there, you’re surrounded by great options for drinks, lunch, dinner or a larger reception elsewhere in Chelsea, Kensington or central London.

My Approach

My approach to wedding photography is all about documenting the day as it actually happens. I don’t stage things unnecessarily or interrupt the flow of the day - I focus on the real moments, the atmosphere, and the connections between people.

Chelsea Old Town Hall is perfect for that kind of photography. The weddings here often have a lovely rhythm: guests arriving on the King’s Road, the anticipation before the ceremony, the emotion in the room itself, and then that burst of energy afterwards as everyone spills outside.

I’ll be there to quietly capture all of it - the nerves, the glances, the laughter, the confetti, the family moments and all the little interactions in between. The aim is always to create a set of photographs that feels honest, natural and true to the day.

A Wedding at Chelsea Old Town Hall

A wedding at Chelsea Old Town Hall often feels simple in the best possible way. There’s no need for huge amounts of production or decoration - the ceremony, the people and the location are enough.

The smaller rooms work particularly well for intimate weddings, where the focus is entirely on the couple and the guests closest to them. For bigger ceremonies, the larger spaces give the day more scale while still keeping that classic town hall atmosphere.

One of the best parts of getting married here is what happens immediately afterwards. Guests gather outside, confetti goes up, people cheer, taxis and buses pass by, and suddenly the whole thing feels very London. It’s relaxed, joyful and full of movement - exactly the kind of energy that makes for memorable documentary wedding photographs.

Making Chelsea Old Town Hall Your Own

Chelsea Old Town Hall works brilliantly as the starting point for a wider London wedding day. Some couples keep things very low-key, with a short ceremony followed by lunch or drinks nearby. Others use it as the beginning of a bigger celebration elsewhere in the city.

The surrounding area gives you lots of possibilities. The King’s Road, Chelsea streets, nearby gardens and classic London architecture all offer opportunities for relaxed portraits without needing to travel far. You can keep the day polished and elegant, or make it feel more informal and spontaneous - either approach works well here.

That’s one of the strengths of Chelsea Old Town Hall. It’s recognisable and stylish, but it doesn’t force the day in one direction. It gives you a strong London setting, and then leaves plenty of room for the wedding to feel like your own.

My style is all about capturing beautiful, unscripted moments. It’s something I’ve loved doing since I began my wedding photography business in 2010, and I get a tremendous buzz from creating distinctly unique imagery that is artistic and full of emotion.
