Amy and Tom planned the kind of wedding day I always love: very relaxed, and completely centred around the people they care about. They also chose two brilliant venues: Abney Park Chapel (my first time there!) and Jones & Sons - a cool, understated space that used to be a textile factory (the industrial look still very much intact).
Instead of the usual morning prep, I started my coverage at The Auld Shillelagh for pre-wedding drinks, where Guinness was very much the drink of choice - a little nod to Tom’s Irish roots. From there we wandered over to Abney Park Chapel. The walk through the cemetery is a bit special - quiet paths, wild greenery, and old gravestones leaning into each other. By the time we reached the chapel, the excitement of seeing family and friends made the space feel full of life and warmth.
Family meant the world to Amy and Tom, especially with a big group from Amy’s side flying over from Australia. Hugs were everywhere - long, emotional, and full of the kind of warmth you only get when you haven’t seen someone in far too long.
After the ceremony, everyone headed to Jones & Sons for the reception. This was my second time photographing there, and I hope it’s not the last - it definitely seems to attract weddings that feel grounded and real, where big gestures aren’t needed to make it memorable. Just good people, a beautiful setting, and moments full of laughter, connection, and warmth.
