I didn’t know what to expect of Georgina & Simon’s wedding until I met them at Trinity Buoy Wharf about a month or so before the big day. Even driving through the artistic warehouse complex, which is on the site of the old East End dockyards, had me excited, but there was more to come. We walked into a large empty space, and it was here they talked me through how they were going to transform this blank canvas into an incredibly personalised setting. There was going to be a yellow and grey motif and a music theme running throughout. There would be lanterns hanging from the ceiling, large drapes to separate the space between where the marriage vows were happening and the reception/dance floor area, pictures of music legends in each music genre (Elvis for Rock N Roll, Nirvana for Grunge etc) instead of table names, a funk band playing in the evening….and all of this taking place in front of London’s iconic music venue – the 02 Arena.
But as amazing as that all was, it was trumped by seeing someone I’ve known since University so happy. At the end I even got to catch up with some old Uni friends I hadn’t seen in years, and if it wasn’t for the long drive back to the coast I would’ve partied with them long into the night. What an awesome day.
