More Humanist weddings please! If they turn out to be half as special as Charlotte and Alex’s I’ll happily photograph one every weekend. Heck, make that two! So many things to say I don’t really know where to start. Right off the top of my head: food trucks selling burgers, falafel wraps and gelatos instead of a sit down meal; a treasure hunt in the grounds of Childerley Hall during the reception; a brass band!; a deeply moving Humanist ceremony that relocated to the Barn after a heavy downpour meant we couldn’t all be outside but actually turned out to be just as special!; the speeches!! ahh, the speeches – so good; all the extremely lovely people whom I spoke with on the day who made me feel so welcomed.
And finally to the couple themselves. For those wanting to know, Charlotte is an epic freelance writer and quite the accomplished photographer herself, of the food and lifestyle variety, and Alex was Masterchef runner-up a few years back and now runs the hugely successful Hole in the Wall. However their most impressive accomplishment is managing to be two of the loveliest human beings you can hope to meet. From start to finish their Humanist wedding was a real pleasure to be a part of, and I can safely say that that won’t be the last time I’ll see Charlotte and Al, and that thrills me.
