A couple months ago I headed up to Essex for Liz & Mike’s beautiful wedding at Hedingham Castle. Liz & Mike have known each other since school, and I could sense the enormity of the day for both of them. I can imagine that all the little things you’ve dreamt about for all those years must seem surreal as they finally become a reality. So throughout the morning I heard little things like, “My wedding photos have just begun”, “In one hour I’m going to be married”, all said with a sense of disbelief. This is why I’ll never get bored with photographing weddings – I find it an incredible experience to be involved in, and to see these emotions so out in the open is simply amazing. The moment Liz’s dad sees her for the first time just shows how powerful photography can be – these are moments that can be replayed over and over again, and can serve as a reminder to the people that were there or to show others what they may have missed in their absence.
I could see how much this day meant to both of them, and they got it just right with everything, from the really intimate setting, with the interior of the castle bathed in candle-light, to the acoustic set by the ever-impressive Cupids Wish. A beautiful day from start to finish..
